Questions we get a lot about hedge trimming.
How often should a hedge be trimmed?
Depends on the species. Murraya needs three cuts a year, Lilly Pilly two, box one or two, slow conifers like leighton green just one. We set a schedule per hedge so each one gets cut at the right rhythm, not all on the same calendar.
Will a hedge grow back if it's been let go for years?
Most species, yes — but it needs a careful hard prune-back over one to two seasons, not a single brutal cut. Lilly Pilly, photinia, murraya and viburnum all recover well. Conifers like leighton green won't reshoot from old wood, so the cut has to leave green growth.
Can you do scheduled hedge maintenance for the whole year?
Yes — our annual schedules are how most heritage and high-end gardens run. One fixed-price agreement, multiple visits per year, the hedges always look right. You don't get a quote each time.
Do you handle hedges that overhang the neighbour's property?
Routine. Trimming back to the boundary is allowed under Sydney council rules, and we'll do it neat and clean. Where the neighbour wants a coordinated trim on their side, we can quote both sides at once.
Do you remove the trimmings?
Always. Trimmings get bagged or chipped, hauled off-site, the area swept down. We don't leave green waste piled in a corner of the garden.
